Xiaomi's vice president said the under-screen camera technology is still not ready

Last year we saw a number of smartphone manufacturers, including Xiaomi and Oppo, experimenting with hidden camera technology under the screen. This technology allows the camera to be hidden beneath the display panel, allowing to remove "imperfect" designs like rabbit ears or perforated cameras. But the biggest drawback of this method is that light must pass through the screen before reaching the camera lens.
Currently, many-pixel smartphone screens today block too much light from the camera. Plus the sensor in the camera are quite small before leading to collect light more limited than ordinary cameras, which makes camera image quality from this format is not as good as expected ..
The Researchers and engineers are still finding ways to develop technologies that allow displays with high pixel density but good light transmittance, but everything is still in the research stage.
By the time the problem is resolved, there probably aren't too many consumers who are willing to sacrifice image quality from the front camera to get a better design. So according to Xiaomi Vice President Lu Weibing, this technology will not appear in commercial products soon. We have to wait a bit longer for this technology to mature and ready for production.
The design is better but the front camera is worse, do you dare to trade it?
