TOMATOES WITH MOZZARELLA
Ingredients
4 large tomatoes
400 g of mozzarella
8 to 10 fresh basil leaves
60 ml of extra virgin olive oil
Salt and freshly ground pepper
Preparation
- Cut tomatoes and mozzarella into thick slices.
- Arrange the slices of cheese and tomatoes on a serving dish, overlapping them. Decorate with basil.
- Sprinkle with olive oil and salt slightly. Serve with the black pepper offered separately.
Good to know
- This delicious salad of childlike simplicity has a somewhat patriotic character in Italy because its three colors are those of the national flag.
- In Italy, the mozzarella that is made is the one made with buffalo milk. It is found mainly in the South and Campania.
