WINDOWS 10 1903: REQUIRED STORAGE SPACE INCREASES WITH NEXT UPDATE

The minimum requirements for Windows 10 have changed little in recent years, but this will change with the May 2019 update for storage.
To have the ability to install and run Windows 10 computers must have a configuration that conforms to that requested by Microsoft. It evolves from time to time, this will be particularly the case from the next major release.
Until now, machines designed to host Windows 10 had to have at least 16 GB of storage for the 32-bit version or 20 GB for the 64-bit version. Microsoft today notes this prerequisite to 32 GB of storage for both versions as shown in the section on storage on the page that lists the elements of the minimum configuration. This only affects versions from Windows 10 1903.
A novelty presented at the beginning of the year in the test versions is at the origin of this modification. From the next version 1903 the system will indeed reserve space for the critical functions of the system and the applications but also to allow the installation of the updates. However, this should only apply to versions of Windows 10 1903 that have been installed “new” and not the updated versions.
In reality, this recommendation will have little impact on PC users who are generally sold with sufficient storage space. It is also recommended to go well beyond this minimum configuration, even with an entry-level PC, making sure to choose a model with at least 64 GB of storage.
