HAMBURGER STEAK
Ingredients
1 lb. lean ground beef
1 egg
1/4 cup of bread crumbs
Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 c. onion powder
1/2 c. of garlic powder
1 C. Worcestershire sauce
1 C. vegetable oil
1 cup finely sliced onions
2 tbsp. flour
1 cup of beef broth
1 C. sherry
1/2 c. seasoned salt
1/2 cup mushrooms, sliced
Preparation
- In large bowl, mix together beef, egg, bread crumbs, salt, pepper, onion and garlic powder and Worcestershire sauce. Shape 4 meatballs.
- In large skillet, heat oil over moderate heat and cook meatballs, about 4 minutes per side, until golden brown and almost completely cooked; remove the patties from the skillet and keep warm.
- In the same skillet (do not remove the juice!) And always on a moderate heat, add the oil and sweat the onions and mushrooms by scraping the pan with a spatula, until the water mushrooms be evaporated.
- Sprinkle with flour and still scraping, coat the vegetables with flour.
- Slowly add beef broth and sherry, season with salt and pepper, whisk well and simmer for about 5 minutes or until thickened.
- Return the patties to the sauce, cover and simmer on a low heat for 15 minutes.
- Serve with fries, baked potatoes and / or selected vegetables.
