The man brought the wolf into the car because he thought it was a dog
CANADA Despite its injuries, the small wolf still behaved obediently, making the man think that it was not wildlife.
Eli Boroditsky hit an animal while driving to work at night, causing it to fall into a roadside groove in Manitoba, Canada, CNN reported on December 4. He stopped the car, stepped down and took the flashlight to check. "I thought it was a German shepherd or a husky. I didn't think it was a wild animal. It was very obedient and also allowed me to stroke," Boroditsky said.
To protect the "dog" from night predators, Boroditsky carried it into the car. However, when he arrived, a colleague realized it was a coyote. It weighs only about 14 kg and looks quite healing despite being injured.
Boroditsky figured out where to bring the coyotes to the wound. However, he was told to wait until the morning for someone to pick up the animal. All night, the wolf just remained in the car.
When Aviva Cohen, the morning shift worker, arrived at the company, Boroditsky was still unable to drive home. Cohen informed the nearby Wildlife Rehabilitation Center (WHRC). Center staff went to pick up the injured animal before 9 am.
Coyote is about 1-3 years old. The animal was wounded in the head, there were few scratches on the face and legs from the collision. However, it will get well and be ready to return to nature after a few weeks, according to Zoé Nakata, director of WHRC.
Nakata warns people to be cautious if they encounter large, injured animals because once they regain consciousness, they can attack. In this case, they should call the local wildlife management center or agency.
