First, before thinking about how to host a puppy, it is important to ask the question of which breed to choose. Abandonment has never been greater in recent years due to lack of knowledge of the specificities of each breed.
It will be important to choose a breed in accordance with your daily life and your lifestyle. It will be a good idea to think of all the needs of expenses specific to each race but also, the main characteristics of each race before making your decision. Even if all dogs are unique and within the same breed, there are different characters, there are still “trends” that stand out according to the breeds.
For example, we will avoid dogs “work” (hunting, flock, sled, etc.) if you are away from 8am to 20h and that the only proposed walks will be the weekend.
Then, before you even greet your puppy, you must agree with your family what you will accept and what limits you will set for your puppy. Indeed, because the bad habits are taken early and the more you will allow time, the more they will be difficult to erase.
Prepare the arrival of the puppy

It will be necessary to define a place for your puppy through a basket, an indoor niche or a park. This place should be very comfortable, you can drop some toys and some treats / croquettes to make your puppy feel good.
This space will be that of your puppy, it will be his place of refuge and it will be very important to respect the tranquility of your puppy when it is in its place. This is an important rule for children: the dog’s basket is forbidden zone!
Tip: Also put a hot water bottle in his basket so that it echoes the heat brought by his mother and siblings.
The first night, you can also sleep your puppy in your room so that the change is less traumatic and brutal for him.

Of course two bowls, one for croquettes (data 2 or 3 times a day for up to 30 minutes each time … Especially not self-service!) And one for water, at will.
Also prepare some occupation toys for your puppy who will need to spend his energy.
The first days
The first days
The first few days may be difficult for your puppy as he will move from a familiar environment, with his mother and siblings to a completely unknown environment without landmarks. So do not worry if there are crying / messiness / nonsense the first few days: your puppy tries to manage his emotions and apprehend this new environment as he can.
It is generally recommended to take a few days of “holidays” to be able to spend time with your puppy and thus, not to leave it alone for several hours upon arrival in the home.
You are now ready to welcome your new companion in good conditions. Remember that you commit to a minimum of 10 years of cohabitation, ask yourself the right questions and make sure you take the right directions so that your puppy fits perfectly into your daily life.
