The Kurilian Bobtail (or Kurilian Bobtail) is a medium to large, semi-cobby cat, quite rare outside its home country of Russia. It has a massive body, a strong frame and a round head. The main characteristic of this cat is its short tassel-shaped tail. It is a cat with a balanced character, soft and tender, easy going.

Description and characteristics of the Kurilian Bobtail
The main characteristic of the Kuril Bobtail is its short tassel-shaped tail, the result of a natural genetic mutation, like that of the Japanese Bobtail, with which it is often confused. Its tail is no longer than 8 cm and is composed of several irregular knots and longer hairs than the rest of its body.
The Kurilish Bobtail has a compact and powerful body and an arched back. Its frame is strong, as well as its musculature. This cat is also recognizable by its large trapezoid-shaped head, prominent cheekbones and large round eyes. His medium-sized ears are spaced apart.
The dress of the Kurilish Bobtail is either short or mid-length. She can be of all colors. His hair is thick and silky, especially on his round feet, his crop, belly and thighs, and it is waterproof.
Origin of the Kurilian Bobtail
The Kurilish Bobtail is native to Russia, and more precisely from the Kuril Islands near Japan, from where it takes its name. This is a very old breed but was officially recognized late (in the early 1990s). The Kuril Bobtail is a rare cat outside his home country where he is very popular. There are very few specimens in France.
