Aside from general health, the pumpkin question for dogs is most often asked when Halloween approaches and the autumn when pumpkins are everywhere.
While you can feed your dog with canned pumpkin or fresh pumpkin, beware of pumpkins called “pumpkins” Halloween! These pumpkins do not have the same nutrients needed by your pet. These are “decorative pumpkins” and especially raw that could be harmful to your dog. So, be sure to place your pumpkins so that your pet does not have access to them, lest he eat them.
Also pay attention to this:
Make sure your dog does not eat the stem or leaves of a pumpkin. Their velvet type material can irritate your pet.
Be careful that your pet does not spur the skin of the pumpkin. Many pumpkins and decorative gourds are coated with materials such as glue, gum or lacquer, which can be toxic to your pet.
Raw pumpkin seeds are also harmful!
