Teach your dog to follow you when you let them out

Teaching dogs to follow you, or walking beside you is an important skill, which we need to know to keep our boss safe when out.
Going back to the time of the infantry and hunters, men often carried their weapons on the right. These people when parading or hunting with dogs, they often keep their pets on the left. So unless you carry a weapon, or other equipment, on your right hand when traveling with a pet, there's no reason to teach them to follow you on the left.
In fact, those who walk the dog on the sidewalk may find it more appropriate to let them walk to the right. Because we tend to go to the right hand, when dogs go with the right hand they will be safer.

Teach them both

If you walk in a busy area and avoid pedestrians, vehicles or other animals, it is safer to keep your dog on the right, but there are times when keeping them on the left is safe. safe for them. Therefore we should teach them to follow us both sides to make it easier for each case.
Teach the dog to walk beside you, with its ears protruding from your hips. This is a great way to keep your dog safe while walking through busy intersections, airports, or other areas.

How do dogs follow you?

Consider starting training in a quiet place, with an enclosed space without a leash, which will make it more comfortable for you, the pet, without having to worry about keeping the leash. You should instruct your dog on the left side until he is well-trained and begins to train him on the right side.
  1. Attract the dog to your left. In your left hand, you should have some food reward for it and place it near your navel.
  2. Step two steps forward. If your dog is not watching, use his voice to encourage him, but don't tempt him with food.
  3. When you finish step 2, as long as your dog is still with you, mark it by saying aloud "alright" and give it a reward If two steps are too difficult for your dog you, then you can take this step with one step, as long as the pet is still following you
  4. Repeat steps 1-3 until your dog has caught up
  5. Repeat the above procedure, but one more step. The measurement is done from steps 1-3 before marking its position and giving them a reward. Practice until your dog makes it smooth.
  6. Now make another "follow" command or a command of your choice as long as it's easy for your dog to execute before starting step one.
  7. When your dog has completed all the steps, give up the reward at hand. Instead, you will reward them in your pocket or small pocket on your left side.
  8. Keep adding the steps gradually.
Once your dog has mastered this trick, you can move its position to the right and repeat the steps above.
