Microsoft wants to be carbon negative by 2030

The American giant has set itself the even more ambitious goal of eliminating all the carbon it has emitted "either directly or through its electricity consumption since its creation in 1975".
This is a very strong commitment that Microsoft has decided to make for the protection of the environment. The company has just announced a plan which must see it achieve two major objectives: to be carbon negative, that is to say to eliminate more carbon than it emits, by 2030; eliminate all the carbon emitted by its activities as well as its electricity consumption since its creation in 1975. No company of this scope has so far displayed such an ambition.
The program will apply to direct emissions produced by Microsoft as well as throughout its supply and value chain. "We will finance this in part by expanding our internal carbon tax, in place since 2012 and increased last year", explains the company.
In addition, Microsoft technology will also be implemented to help suppliers and customers reduce their own carbon footprint. $ 1 billion “ climate innovation fund ” will aim to “ accelerate the global development of carbon reduction, capture and elimination technologies.
Starting next year, Microsoft will integrate the reduction of carbon emissions into its purchasing processes for its supply chain. An annual report will provide an update on the progress of projects and objectives.
