A worker in Bristol is forced to smash a car window to save three trapped dogs on the hottest day of the year
The dogs were left in the back seat of the car on Thursday with all windows closed under the 27 degree heat. The dogs were reportedly left for 2 hours in an unventilated car. .
Interested viewers called 999 and called for action. A cloth is covered on the rear windshield to shade the dogs.
A person who left a message on the car windshield said, “The dogs die in hot cars! You have been reported to the police. ”
The policeman who arrived at the scene planned to wait until the car owners returned with an expired parking ticket.
However, a worker from Britol Waste decided to take action, he used a hammer to smash the driver's window and unlock the door, before 1pm.
When the dogs went out, a pedestrian gave them a bowl of water
Lisa Eastman, a colleague of the worker, said, “I stopped by the side of the road to do my work. When I stopped, the back door opened, and I asked if the dogs will be okay? ”
“He said the store doesn't allow dogs and he gave them some water. They have been there since 10:40 am. ”
When the car owner returned, he had an angry exchange with the bystanders. A woman accompanying him declared the dogs lying on a bandage
“We did everything we could. We called the police, RSPCA, ”Ms Eastman added.
"I'll raise my hand and say we agree to smash the window because it's necessary and I'll do it again in a second."
The incident happened on the same day that RSPCA revealed three dogs had died in hot cars since the onset of the heat wave, the longest heat wave since 1976.
In a statement yesterday, RSPCA said its emergency hotline received 3,832 calls for animals and the effects of the heat from June 1 to July 24.
The organization called for anyone who sees an animal trapped in a hot car to call 999, and only the police have the right to break into the car.
